Outraged Hindus Urge Endorphina To Withdraw Durga Slot

Launching mythology inspired video slots in the iGaming industry isn’t always breaking news… unless you work at Czech-based software company, Endorphina.

The brand is being literally crucified all over the media after its latest addition to the catalog – a slot based on a Hindu goddess of positive divine forces, Durga. Since the official launch, an outraged Hindu group is requesting immediate recall of the game from the market, saying it links inappropriate content with Hindu deities.

According to the Hindu statesman and President of Universal Society of Hinduism, Rajan Zed, the company’s description of the game, as well as its concept, hurts the devotees, who demand an instantaneous apology. Zed immediately urged Endorphina and its CEO to withdraw the title from the market, since associating Durga with gambling is highly insensitive in the Hindu society.

Worshipped In Temples, Not On Reels

Pursuant to the tradition, the Hindu goddess belongs to an order of highly-respected divinities, and it is worshipped in temples and home shrines all over India...

Connecting its divinity with online gambling, which Zed connects to greed and international companies, is not only offensive but repugnant and hideous as well.

Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions, with more than 1.1 billion followers. Its noble philosophical thought should not be taken lightly. In fact, symbols of any faith or movement should not be mocked upon, added Zed.

Urging On All Fronts

Zed is moving the battle to other fronts, seeking the intervention of Malta Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Silvio Schembri, Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) Board Chairman, Joseph Cuschieri and MGA CEO Heathcliff Farrugia.

The Hindu statesman said that MGA should monitor licensed gaming and ensure the integrity of games and gaming devices, which falls under its main priorities.

Zed will likely request from Endorphina’s partners SoftSwiss and BetConstruct to remove the game from catalogs, but also to send their executives for training in religious and cultural institutions and do out-and-out homework before designing new products.
